About the Artist
Sandra Taggart energizes her work with her need to understand the essence of the physical and metaphysical components of our world directly and through telescopes and microscopes. Motivated by curiosity, wonder, awe, reverence and apprehension she has knowledge in a number of fields, including; the fundamental workings of the universe, time, the environment, biodiversity and social upheaval & disintegration.
Taggart uses paint, crystals, glitter, gel pens, pencils, pastels, performance, and video to explore and interpret her findings of our earth and the universe. Her process varies depending on what she deems the best way to present her thoughts. She either begin with an idea of how things work e.g. time or the universe, or she is moved by current events or sometimes she is simply inspired by an image - usually of something evoking a strong emotion. The completed works result from exploration and contemplation of science, nature, and the human experience.
